Get the care you deserve

Transforming Mental Healthcare

Jungle Gem provides quality mental health care, targeting a holistic approach in order to fully meet your needs. We focus on working with black, indigenous and people of color who identify as current and former athletes, adolescents, women and men, ages 18-35 years old. We incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma informed practices and mindfulness, helping you build skills to address anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, trauma, grief, life transitions and adjustments. We also offer life coaching/mentoring for those individuals looking for support without fully indulging in therapy.

Athletes(All Ages)

It’s essential that our clients get personalized suggestions and support from a licensed professional that can relate. We provide mental health therapy and coaching to athletes who are looking to have a safe space to overcome their challenges and barriers. We believe that performance is directly related to mental health and that in order to succeed, we have to nurture our ability, skills and thoughts to reach our full potential. Athletes are more at risk to suppress their emotions and be conflicted about their treatment in their respective sports. Trauma, grief, self image/identity, performance anxiety, injury, transition and personal life events, are all bags that student athletes carry while being expected to push through and perform on an elite level and as their best self.

Jungle Gem also works with athletes who are facing the grief and transition of not being an active athlete and acknowledging the identity crisis that may surface. Our goal is to identify your skills as an athlete and translate them to other ares of life to reshape your narrative and identity while keeping your athletic nature at your core.

Adolescents

Adolescents of color are particularly vulnerable to the consequences of repeated exposure to racial discrimination, the criminal justice system, depression, anxiety, anger, school challenges, identity challenges, low self-esteem, and hopelessness. These factors lead to hampered coping abilities and greater internalizing of problems and emotions. Our youth continue to face increased mental health challenges, but are less likely to seek services due to feelings of being judged, lack of trust and/or afraid to be misunderstood. Jungle Gem works to strengthen our relationships with youth by building trust and modeling safety and security to promote comfort to help aid in the therapeutic process. We are culturally competent and equipped to address their mental health concerns and more.

Adults (18-35)

Jungle Gem specializes in working with adult women and men, ages 18-35 years old, helping to build skills to address anxiety, depression, trauma, anger, grief and life transitions or adjustments. The challenges of communities of color often go unmentioned or is not given the appropriate platform to release the toxic emotional hold that we carry—in part because these communities are often pigeonholed as strong and who shoulder others’ burdens and do not share their own. The suffering does not just begin with our individual lives, but the lives of are lineage. At Jungle Gem we help you to develop words for your emotions, create a safe place for expressing them, and support you in your journey.
