Allese Morrison (She | Her | Hers) founder of Jungle Gem, was born and raised in Prince George’s County, MD. She spent the majority of her life playing basketball, traveling and spending time with friends and family. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Health Science and a Master’s of Social Work degree from Howard University and also spent her undergraduate years playing on the Howard Women’s Basketball team. She continued her career after graduation, playing for a semi-pro team in the Maryland area. Allese understands the busy schedule of being an athlete, the adjustment of an active lifestyle to a life where sports is not the main priority and the challenges posed when forced to transition and create a new sense of identity, while also relating to the daily challenges of being a Black women.

Allese has worked in the mental health field for 6+ years, working with athletes, adolescents, young adults, women and men, ages 18-35. She is experienced in working with youth who have crossed into one or more of the following areas: the criminal justice system, school therapy, outpatient mental health care and in sports. Additionally, she has worked with BIPOC men and women in outpatient care, supporting clients with a diagnosis related to anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and adjustments. Allese is also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional.

Allese believes that healing is not linear and no two journey’s are the same. Healing does not just come in the form of mental support and growth, but it is also key to make sure that your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual aspects are aligned. Additionally, Allese is a Reiki healer and integrates holistic approaches when working with clients and creates an open dialogue into different approaches and avenues to include in treatment.
